Michael White, The Last Impresario, passes away

Dogwoof is sad to share the news that Michael White, star of The Last Impresario, has passed away. He passed away of heart failure in California earlier this week aged 80.

Michael White was a notorious London theatre and film impresario, playboy, gambler, bon vivant, eccentric friend of the rich and famous. He was the man that brought Oh! Calcutta! and The Rocky Horror Picture Show to London stages and Monty Python's The Holy Grail to screens around the world. His friends knew him as 'Chalky' and as a man that shaped the cultural scene of 1970's London.


The tributes have been pouring in from the people that knew and loved him. The Last Impresario director Gracie Otto shared this message on twitter:
