Free Solo wins the Documentary BAFTA

We’re pleased to share that nail-biting Free Solo picked up the BAFTA for Documentary at last night’s awards.

The star studded ceremony took place at London’s Royal Albert Hall hosted by the one and only Joanna Lumley. We had a Dogwoof record-breaking three films nominated for the category - RBG, Three Identical Strangers and Free Solo.

Filmmakers Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin as well as producers Shannon Dill and Evan Hayes picked up the award while film subject Alex Honnold watched on from the balcony.

The film documents climber Alex Honnold’s fear-inducing ascent of the 3000ft El Captian in Yosemite National Park.

Free Solo is also up for an Oscar, alongside RBG and Minding the Gap so make sure to keep an eye out on 24 February!
