Last night Curzon Soho was host to the first ever public screening of Versus: The Life and Films of Ken Loach. It was the first in a series of Q&A screenings for the film and was completely sold out with specials guests like John Bishop, Peter Capaldi, Hayley Squires, Alan Yentob and Lord Melvyn Bragg joining us.
Joining us at the screening were Ken Loach and director Louise Osmond who took part in a Q&A hosted by Dave Calhoun from Time Out. Ken Loach described watching Versus as "seeing my life flash before my eyes" to the sold out audience
Ken went on to explain his philosophy of filmmaking as: "We try to say in the simplest way the way things are, and hope that that's enough." When asked about the political aspect of his films he shared that "I don't think there was a narrow political objective. We just wanted to share stories, to share experiences, to get people to reflect."
Versus: The Life and Films of Ken Loach is a funny, provocative and revealing account of the life and career of one of Britain’s foremost filmmakers, Ken Loach, as he turns eighty and looks back at over fifty years of filmmaking.
Versus is in cinemas from 3 June.
On Sunday 5 June there are special Pay-What-You-Can screenings across the UK and Ireland.
