Partying with Marina at Berlinale 2012

Ever been to a silent party? At the Berlinale last month we went to one for upcoming Dogwoof Global title Marina Abramovic The Artist is Present:

Following the sold out Panorama premiere in the International, Berlin's most beautiful cinema, which was attended by Marina Abramovic, Ulay, the filmmakers, and their friends from the the celebrity and art world, we were invited to the Silent Party sponsored by Verve Cliquot, and hosted by Gabriele Horn and Klaus Biesenbach (who curated Abramovic's The Artist is Present show at MOMA). The guests were asked to put on white lab coats and headphones, and refrain from talking. In an empty gallery space, we mingled, and bashfully smiled at each other, whilst the only sound that could be heard was the ticking of the metronome, and chinking of the champagne glasses.

The Silent Party was followed by a private dinner for Marina and Klaus hosted by Maja Hoffmann, Stanley Buchthal and Francesca von Habsburg, and attended amongst others, by the musician and performance artist Peaches, Riccardo Tisci, the creative director of Givanchy, Ulay, Marina's former performance and life partner, and the legendary German photographer Katarina Sieverding. After the lovely, intimate gathering, we continued partying with Marina at Trust!, the Berlin's bar of the moment, until the early hours of the morning.

All subsequent Panorama screenings were sold out, with the audience leaving the theaters moved to tears. Marina Abramovic The Artist is Present went on to win the Panorama Audience Award for the Best Documentary, by a clear margin. Congrats to all involved, here are some photos from the night - see more on Flickr:
